What does D&D stand for? Databases and (website) Development

Database Development 1st February 2026

If you’ve read my about me page you’ll know I play D&D. In my day-to-day life you’d be surprised how much Dungeons and Dragons overlaps with Databases and website Development. I find myself using skills to bring your vision to life that I also find myself using fighting dragons.

Now I know what you’re thinking, how on earth do these two things overlap?

Well, let’s start with thinking outside of the box to solve problems. It might be a stereotype but many a D&D party has been completely confused by the concept of a door. Regularly playing D&D means I and my party come up against puzzles and problems we have to overcome. If something isn’t working for your website and you want to have a better user experience, user interface and online presence, I will work with you to overcome any issues. Through thinking and working together on your vision I can create a web presence that works for you not against you.

This attention to detail is crucial for D&D, being able to spot patterns and tiny pieces of information – did someone say roll for initiative? This focus is a core part of my day-to-day work, whether I am working on the back end, front end or full stack. Being able to notice details and work with complex web applications means that your website is in safe hands.

Another aspect of D&D that applies to the real world of Databases and website Development is being able to plan and manage time. Trying to get half a dozen people free on the same night takes planning and preparation. Time management is a core value of my work. Building and making websites and databases to a time scale that works for you is vital. Particularly when starting from scratch, creating high quality website to pre-established deadlines is what makes me a highly skilled freelance website developer (and a great D&D player!).

Whether I’m fighting goblins or making you a website that is cost effective, SEO friendly and has regular updates, I bring energy and a positive attitude. Who doesn’t like a transferable skill set? If you are looking for a website upgrade that feels like it happens by magic contact me.
